Nextmark

The Process

Your path from expert
to AI trainer.

Five steps from application to payout. Here is exactly what happens at each stage, with no surprises.

01

Choose a role and apply.

Browse the open roles on Nextmark.ai and find one that matches your background. The application asks for your name, email, and the role you are applying to — nothing more. No CV, no portfolio, no cover letter.

What to expectYou will receive a confirmation email with next steps within a few minutes. If you do not hear from us in 24 hours, check your spam folder.
02

Complete the AI-led voice interview.

You will receive a link to a 20-25 minute AI-led voice interview. This is not a quiz or a test of your AI knowledge — it is a structured conversation about your domain expertise. The system asks questions relevant to your field, evaluates how clearly and accurately you communicate, and notes the depth of your knowledge. You can take it at any time, from any device with a microphone.

What to expectCommon questions include: "Explain a complex concept in your field as if to a smart non-expert" and "Describe a situation where you had to make a judgment call with incomplete information." There are no trick questions.
03

Complete a written case study.

The case study is a 30-45 minute written exercise sent to you after your AI interview. It presents a realistic scenario from your discipline and asks how you would respond, evaluate, or advise. There is no single correct answer — reviewers are looking for expert reasoning, not memorized facts. You can take as much time as you need (up to 72 hours from receipt).

What to expectExamples: A legal professional might be asked to review a draft contract clause and identify potential issues. A medical professional might be asked to evaluate a proposed treatment approach for a described patient profile. A software engineer might be asked to review a code snippet and identify performance or security issues.
04

Get your result and role match.

Within 48 hours of submitting your case study, you will receive your screening result by email. Candidates who pass are immediately matched to active roles that align with their background. The match considers your specific domain, communication style from the interview, and the quality of your case study response. If you do not pass, you will receive a clear explanation and can reapply in 30 days.

What to expectYour first matched role will include a short orientation document explaining the task types, quality standards, and compensation structure. Most contributors complete their first paid task within 1-2 days of matching.
05

Log in and start working.

Once matched, you will have access to your role dashboard. Tasks appear as they become available — you choose which ones to take, when to work, and how many tasks per week. Each task includes clear instructions, expected output format, and estimated time. Payments are processed every Friday and deposited directly to your account.

What to expectFirst payments typically arrive 7-10 days after your first task submission, due to payment processing times. After that, you will receive payments on the standard weekly cycle.

Questions about the process

What if I fail the screening?
You can reapply after 30 days. We will send feedback on what you can improve. The most common reasons for not passing are: communication clarity (not domain knowledge itself), insufficient detail in the case study, and timezone or device issues with the voice interview. Many current contributors did not pass on their first attempt.
Can I choose which AI company my work goes to?
No. The specific end client is not disclosed. All work goes through Nextmark.ai quality review before reaching the client, and we hold our partners to strict data use and confidentiality standards. Your NDA covers the full workflow.
Is the AI interview a real AI or a recorded script?
It is a real AI system that adapts based on your responses. The questions become more or less challenging depending on how you are answering. Think of it as a structured interview with a knowledgeable system that is genuinely evaluating your responses, not a fixed script running in sequence.
Do I need to prepare for the screening?
You do not need to study AI. What helps: thinking about how you would explain your expertise to a smart person outside your field, recalling specific cases or decisions from your work, and ensuring you have a quiet environment with a stable internet connection for the voice interview.
How long after screening can I start?
Most matched candidates start within 48 hours of receiving their match email. The orientation document and first task access are sent together.
Can I appeal a screening decision?
Not currently. We do review screening results internally before sending them, so the result you receive is final for that cycle. You are welcome to reapply in 30 days. Feedback is included in every rejection email.
What if I am not a native English speaker?
English communication ability matters for roles involving English-language AI training. For non-English roles (language-specific projects), fluency in the target language is what is evaluated. The application asks you to specify your language capabilities, and we match accordingly.
Is there an age restriction?
You must be 18 or older to work with Nextmark.ai. There is no upper age limit. Experienced professionals at all career stages are welcome.
